This chapter is Riboku’s memory when he first met Houken. Which means everything in this chapter will be from Riboku’s opinions, including about Houken’s path.

Before meeting Houken, Rbk was taking Ls constantly. He was desperate and in one battle he was injured and had to hide in the forest. Houken appeared with tiger on his hand, RBK thought that wasn’t human.

Houken spoke: “I will kill anyone who stands on my path!”

RBK, already given up on his life, accepted his death. Houken suddenly said that RBK’s mission wasn’t finished, and that the “gods” led him to RBK, who will guide Houken on his path. (So RBK only survived cause Hara told Houken so)

RBK told Houken that what he said was wrong and passed out. When he woke up, he found that his enemies were all killed by Houken. Exhausted from the wars, as well as taking interests in Houken, RBK stayed hidden for a while to look into the “Bushin” clan.

He found out that the Bushin had existed before the 500 years of warring states, and that their original mission was to save humanity from war itself. So the bushin aimed to become something surpassing all humans to achieve this goal. Basically they threw away their lives to become “gods”.

So Houken’s goal is not to become the strongest, but to prove that he can walk into the “realm of the gods”. TO BECOME A GOD THAT SURPASS ALL HUMANS SO THAT HE CAN SAVE THEM FROM WARS, THAT IS THE “PATH”OF HOUKEN!

Riboku’s soldier is trying to comprehend how Houken is a representative of “humans” and says that he cannot feel any sort of “love” that would put Houken on a path that sounds so righteous. Riboku says that the “love” that they understand isn’t what Houken has. As Shin is knocked around he starts to fight back surprising both sides. Despite constantly getting injured by Houken he keeps getting back up and that is what’s most surprising to everyone.

Paraphrased Dialogue

Kaine: Riboku-sama...what is that man? To be able to get back up again and again no matter how many times he gets hit by Houken-sama who is becoming a Bushin...no matter how many times...how is that possible…

Riboku: If Houken is a representative of humans then he is- no, they are also representatives of humans.

Shin’s attack matches Houken’s for the first time and, in fact, starts to push back Houken. As Houken starts to overwhelm Shin the HSU tries to go in but Houken’s stare stops their feet and the horses.

Riboku: I am the one who can lead Houken to the answer he seeks and Shin is the one who holds the answer.

Houken: How? How can you match my might? What in the world are you all?

Kaine: The representative of humans and...the humans’ answer!?

Shin: Shut up. I keep saying it again and again. I TOLD YOU THAT I AM A GREAT GENERAL OF THE HEAVENS.

Flashback:

There are two people who came to a village to heal the injured townsfolk. It turned out to be Houken's parents and as they are finishing up healing everyone a Bushin comes into that town to take Houken. (The mom utters "Ken...Ken..." so it's assumed Houken was the name he had at birth)

Center:

Once Houken falls everyone starts celebrating saying things like "Finally...finally...our captain Shin took down Houken who General Ouki and Duke Hyou couldn't even do!" News of Houken being defeated would spread through the battle at a fast pace. Even Ousen's HQ got news of it.

Riboku HQ:

Riboku thinks to himself "I have witnessed your final moments Houken..." The soldiers tell Riboku to retreat while Kaine tries to understand what this fight meant, asking if Houken was someone who fought to save humanity but lost here does it mean salvation didn't exist for humanity to begin with. Riboku says this means Houken's path to saving humanity was wrong, but there is another way to save humanity from battle. Unification. But Riboku says this time it will be the Zhao who rejects the answer. They couldn't wipe out Ousen here but he says the conditions are still okay enough for them to go to Gyou to save them and orders his army to head towards Gyou.

Qin side:

Akakin says it's time to stop celebrating and get Riboku. But in this moment where it would be the easiest situation for the HSU to chase Riboku something was going to happen. The HSU tells Shin that he doesn't have to fight anymore and just follow them on a horse. However, it turned out that Shin was unconscious. Everyone starts to realize something's wrong with Shin and Kyoukai says that he's been unconscious for awhile now, that the fire of his life has been out since awhile ago.

No mention of a break in the manga but there will be one according to other sources.

HSU:

Kyoukai tells Ten to move so she can save Shin. Banyou starts yelling at the HSU for not chasing Riboku but Mouten and Ouhon can read the situation and they head where the soldiers are gathered. Ten asks what Kyoukai's going to do and she says that she knows of a 1000 year old technique that shares life forces but she hasn't tried it before and has never seen it actually work. But she says there's no other way.


Flashback:

Kyoukai is attempting this technique on a dead bird and Kyoushou asks her why she's trying such a dangerous technique. She says that since it's a technique that tries to bring the dead back to life it would never work.


HSU: After remembering what she says Kyoukai thinks that this won't work. But then she believes Kyoushou only said that to protect Kyoukai and lied to her so Kyoukai attempts to use the technique anyway. There are two doors to get through and she got through the first one. Kyoukai tells the HSU to call for Shin when something changes and knocks out.


1st Door:

In a white world Kyoukai sees Yuuren but only in form since the aura is completely different. Yuuren says that if she is to go past this world then her lifeforce is needed and the amount is up to Kyoukai. Kyoushou shows up and says that's the kind of technique this is and that only by giving her life can she save Shin. Yuuren says that if someone recently died then it's possible to bring back 2 people using 1 life force. However Shin used his whole life force and moved on to the second world. So her life force can only bring one life back and Kyoushou tells her to go back. Kyoukai says she'll give her whole life to bring Shin back without hesitation. Yuuren calls her a fool and says to go ahead and die and sends her over to Shin. Kyoukai sees Shin in the second world.

Ci sono Shin, Kyoukai, Hyou. In qualche modo, Kyoukai convince Shin a non finire nelle tenebre. Poi sta per finirci lei, ma Shousa e Kyogai la salvano. Shin si sveglia e non sa neanche cosa sia successo. Aggiornerò il post quando uscirà un riassunto più preciso.

Other world:

Shin is heading towards the stairs and Kyoukai is yelling at him saying he won't be able to come back if he goes up. Shin can't really hear or see Kyoukai but one shout got through a little which made him stop and turn. Hyou shows up in the midst of this and starts walking with Shin towards the stairs which got further away as he was idle. Kyoukai thinks she can't move because she's losing her breath but is resolved to bring Shin back to the HSU before she completely runs out.


Shintalks to Hyou about their past events with Bihei and Bitou. Hyou asks what happened after he died and Shin tells him he went out to battle, grew a lot and beat lots of strong people. Kyoukai can't yell out to Shin anymore. Shin continues saying he got his own unit and they were 1000 at one point but now they're bigger. Hyou asks what his unit's name is but Shin can't remember.


At the stairs Hyou asks if there's anything else Shin wants to say. Shin remembers that he met the Qin King and that they're friends, but Shin can't remember his face. Hyou says let's go then but Shin feels like he's forgetting something really big. A dream...but he can't remember so he starts walking towards the stairs.


Kyoukai, while holding on to him, yells out that his unit's name is the Hi Shin Unit and to never forget it. As she's about to tell him his dream Hyou stops her and says he's remembering it on his own. Shin says sorry to Hyou and replies "Our dream. I haven't become a Great General of the Heavens yet!" Hyou tells him to go back through the white hole. Hyou says thanks to Kyoukai before disappearing. Once he disappears Shin finally sees Kyoukai. After giving Shin a hug she throws him through the hole while saying "stay strong" and collapses. Shousa and Kyogai picks her up saying they made it in time and staying there was worth it. They throw her through the hole too before it closes and says they leave their captain in her hands.


HSU:

The HSU has been yelling Shin's name the entire time and Shin finally wakes up.

HSU:

Shin wakes up and the HSU is freaking out while Shin's confused. They start grabbing him and as expected Shin is in a whole lotta pain. While everyone is celebrating Shin notices Kyoukai is still out.


Other world:

Kyoukai is lost and finds her sister. Shou tells her why she said you couldn't use the technique and that it's amazing to see Kyoukai find a man she likes enough to use that technique for. When Shou asks when Kyoukai started liking Shin she replies saying he's just a comrade. Then Shou asks if she would use the same technique for that buck-tooth guy and she replies "ah...no..." lol. Shou then says it's fine if they just say Kyoukai cares about Shin and asks when that started to which Kyoukai replies "probably as soon as they met." Shou is jealous and salty. Shou says she has 1 bad news and 2 good news. Bad news: due to using the technique Kyoukai's life span has dropped. She asks if Kyoukai regrets it and immediately Kyoukai says no. Shou says then the last 2 good things are---


HSU:

Kyoukai woke up. Shin doesn't remember anything but says he saw her in a dream and says thank you. Mouten and co arrives saying they were nervous since it seemed like Shin died and says they came for nothing to Ouhon who says he didn't care. A soldier yells at the HSU to hurry up and chase Riboku and the HSU immediately gets reformed. Kyoukai and Shin are out of commision and Mouten begins to explain the situation per Shin's request. Riboku has run away and Sou'ou/Akakin are giving chase. Shin thinks he's to blame but Mouten believes Riboku had confidence in his escape plan due to how long he was watching the duel between Houken and Shin so it's not Shin's fault. They also saw other members of the Riboku army retreating. Bananji has escaped because he also had a predetermined escape plan and they couldn't give chase because they had to deal with the other Riboku center army soldiers. Kisui's army came from the Zhao right army to swing by and make it easier for Riboku's army to escape backwards before escaping himself. Batei says if he sees that woman again he'll kill her. Mouten says it's the Zhao army's full retreat and believes Riboku will head towards Gyou. Shin says they have to go after them and Mouten says they'll receive orders from Ousen soon. He then says the battle that lasted these past 15 days on the Shukai Plains is their victory.
